Solve for x.8 – 3x – x = 12

Simplify 8 - 3x - x to 8 - 4x

8 - 4x = 12

Subtract 8 from both sides

-4x = 12 - 8

Simplify 12 - 8 to 4

-4x = 4

Divide both sides by -4

x = -1
